Home furnishing retailer JYSK has launched a new training initiative in Switzerland, giving a team of apprentices the opportunity to run a store in Zurich for an entire week.
As part of the programme, the apprentices were responsible for all aspects of store operations, including stock management, customer service and daily decision-making.

According to the company, the initiative aims to provide apprentices with real leadership experience and a deeper understanding of how a store operates under real business conditions.
Valentina Albano, a third-year apprentice who took part in the project, said the experience was both challenging and rewarding. "Leading a store as a third-year apprentice was challenging, intense and incredibly educational. I learned how to make important decisions, work closely with the team and grow together," she said.
The initiative was introduced to give apprentices more ownership during their training, allowing them to move beyond classroom learning and gain practical experience in retail management.
JYSK Switzerland said the programme is the first of its kind for the company in the country, but it plans to continue running similar initiatives in the future as part of its apprenticeship scheme.
