Ergonomic furniture manufacturer Humanscale has opened a new flagship retail store in Shanghai, marking a significant step in the company's Asia-Pacific expansion and its evolution toward a consumer-facing design brand.
Located in InCity MEGA, one of Shanghai's major retail destinations with more than 350 international brands, the store represents Humanscale's second flagship location in China and highlights the strategic importance of the Chinese market for the company's global growth.

According to Heather Fennimore, Co-Founder and President of Humanscale, the opening reflects the company's ambition to strengthen its global presence.
"This moment represents more than the opening of a store. It reflects Humanscale's broader ambition to become a truly global brand that people recognise, trust, and welcome into their homes," she said.
Spanning nearly 1,300 square feet, the Shanghai flagship showcases the company's portfolio of ergonomic seating, sit-to-stand desks, monitor arms and task lighting, allowing visitors to experience how performance-driven design can support comfort and movement in both home and workplace environments.
Humanscale's design philosophy focuses on intuitive ergonomics, with products designed to automatically adapt to the user rather than relying on manual adjustments. The approach is based on decades of research into how people naturally sit, move and work, aiming to deliver comfort and balance without complex controls.

The opening also reflects a wider shift in the furniture and interiors industry, particularly in Asia, where consumers are increasingly prioritising wellness, health and comfort in everyday living spaces. In cities such as Shanghai, hybrid working lifestyles and long working hours are driving demand for furniture solutions that support long-term physical wellbeing.
Traditionally known for its presence in corporate and workplace environments, Humanscale is increasingly strengthening its direct retail presence, offering spaces where consumers can interact with and learn about ergonomic design.
With the new flagship, the company aims to establish a long-term presence in China's growing design and furniture market, positioning Shanghai as a key hub for engaging with both consumers and the wider design community.
