At Light + Building 2026 in Frankfurt (8–13 March), thirteen companies have been honoured with the Designplus Award, recognising outstanding innovation in lighting, building technology and design. The awards were presented on the opening day of the fair at the Design Plaza, placing forward-looking solutions for architecture and interiors in the spotlight.
An independent jury selected the winners from 91 submissions, evaluating entries on sustainability, innovation, functionality and design quality. The panel included industry experts such as Prof. Amandus Samsøe Sattler (ensømble Studio Architektur), lighting designer Ulrike Brandi, and representatives from Stylepark and the German electrical industry association ZVEH.

The winners of the Designplus Award by Light + Building 2026 have been announced.
The Designplus Award reflects the growing convergence between technology, lighting design and the interiors industry, with solutions increasingly focused on energy efficiency, digital connectivity and user experience within buildings.
Winners across five categories
In the "Sustainability & Future Energy +" category, the award went to esave AG, Grundfos GmbH, Hager Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, MENNEKES Elektrotechnik GmbH & Co. KG, Lightholm/Pedrobeat Lighting Company and XAL.
The "Smart & Connected Solutions +" category recognised ABB, Basalte and Georg Bechter Licht for their contributions to intelligent building systems and connected technologies.
In "Lighting Design & Atmosphere", Dexter Lighting and Nordlux A/S were selected for solutions that enhance spatial experience through lighting.
Albrecht Jung GmbH & Co. KG received the award in the "User Experience & Integration +" category, while Zumtobel was honoured in "Sustainable Exhibition Stand +" for the environmentally responsible design of its trade fair stand.
Lighting innovation shaping interior spaces
The winning projects are being presented during the fair as digital information hubs in the foyers of Halls 5.1/6.1 and Hall 9.0, as well as in an online gallery.
