Market data is compiled jointly by the industry association GFU Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH and research company NIQ, which publish figures quarterly through the Home Electronics Market Index (Hemix). While the overall market remained stable, performance varied across product categories.
The consumer electronics segment generated €29.5 billion, recording a slight decline of 0.1% year-on-year. The household appliances sector, by contrast, saw modest growth of 0.5%, reaching €17.4 billion. Within this category, small household appliances continued to perform strongly, increasing 3.7% to €8.0 billion, driven by innovations in convenience and multifunctionality as well as steady demand for kitchen and household devices.
However, large household appliances experienced a 2.7% decline, with sales of €9.4 billion. This drop reflects weaker replacement demand, as many consumers had already invested in major appliances during the pandemic years.
According to GFU Managing Director Carine Chardon, the market stabilisation reflects a more balanced consumer environment after the pandemic-driven surge in demand. Looking ahead, the industry expects moderate growth in 2026, supported by AI-enabled devices, new gaming hardware and energy-efficient appliances.
