DFS has delivered stronger-than-expected first-half results despite continued pressure on consumer spending, prompting UBS to reiterate its 'buy' rating for the sofa retailer.
According to the broker, DFS outperformed forecasts in a subdued UK retail environment, reporting gross sales growth of 8.7% year-on-year in the first half of the 2026 financial year. This exceeded market expectations of around 5% growth.

The performance was supported by the conversion of a strong order book and steady underlying demand. Order intake also rose 2.3% during the period, suggesting the company is gaining market share in what UBS described as a broadly flat UK upholstery market.
UBS highlighted Sofology, DFS's higher average order value brand, as a key contributor to future growth. Increased sales from Sofology are expected to support margins and strengthen the group's product mix.
Alongside its trading update, DFS has launched a marketing partnership with ITV linked to the 19th series of 'Britain's Got Talent'. The campaign includes television advertising, social media sponsorship and in-show product placement.
The collaboration will run until May 2026 and aims to boost brand visibility as DFS navigates a challenging but gradually stabilising retail environment.
