Homewares sales on the UK high street have risen for a seventh consecutive week, helping drive overall retail growth despite weaker in-store performance.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales increased by 2.22% for the week ending 22 February 2026, compared with a base of 1.45% during the same week last year.

Homewares delivered the strongest performance, with total LFL sales jumping 12.83% following a -3.15% base a year earlier. The category has now recorded seven straight weeks of positive growth.
Online sales led the surge, with non-store homewares rising 20.45% from a base of -9.15% last year. In contrast, store-based homewares sales dipped slightly by 0.55%, though this came against a negative base of -8.16%.
Across the wider retail market, total in-store LFL sales declined by 2.20%, while non-store sales grew by 5.19%.
BDO said strong homewares and fashion sales, which rose 4.20%, helped drive overall retail growth during the week, which coincided with the UK's spring half-term holiday.
The tracker also showed a slight fall in footfall of 0.6%, with high street and shopping centre visits declining, while retail park footfall edged up by 0.5%.
