Dutch design brand Moooi has announced the opening of its first store in China, marking a significant step in the company's global expansion. Located in Shanghai, the new space introduces the full Moooi lifestyle universe to one of the world's most dynamic cultural and design capitals.
Situated in the historic Blackstone Building, a Baroque-style landmark dating back to 1924 in Shanghai's former French Concession, the store creates a striking dialogue between heritage architecture and contemporary design. The location reflects Moooi's ambition to merge storytelling, creativity and immersive interior experiences.

The store is operated by Ansel Home, Moooi's regional partner, and aims to become a destination for design enthusiasts, architects and creative professionals in the Chinese market.
Inside the space, visitors can explore some of the brand's most recognisable designs, including the Hortensia Armchair, Horse Lamp, and Raimond lights, alongside Moooi's broader lifestyle collection. The presentation extends beyond furniture and lighting to include carpets, wallcoverings, bedding and other interior elements, staged in curated, home-like settings that demonstrate how the pieces function within everyday interiors.
These compositions are designed to immerse visitors in Moooi's signature narrative-driven approach to design, presenting products not as standalone objects but as part of cohesive living environments.
"Opening our first store in Shanghai feels like a natural and meaningful step. The Blackstone Building carries history, romance, and character, qualities that resonate deeply with Moooi's design philosophy." said Marcel Wanders, Co-founder and Creative Director of Moooi.
For Moooi, the Shanghai opening reflects both the growing influence of Asian markets and the brand's continued effort to bring its distinctive design language to new audiences worldwide.
"We are thrilled to bring Moooi's creativity and visionary designs to Shanghai. At Ansel Home, we believe in curating spaces that tell stories, and partnering with a brand that redefines the boundaries of lighting and furniture is a dream come true." said Ansel Zhou, Founder of Ansel Home.
Founded in 2001, Moooi has built an international reputation for its eclectic, imaginative approach to design under the leadership of Marcel Wanders and Anders Westerholm. The brand's name derives from the Dutch word mooi (beautiful), with the additional "o" symbolising an extra layer of beauty and uniqueness.
With the launch of its Shanghai store, Moooi continues to strengthen its presence in the global design landscape while bringing its distinctive vision of "A Life Extraordinary" to a new audience.
