Davidsen's Køge branch has completed a major renovation, updating 2,800 square meters of retail space in what the company describes as its largest transformation since opening in 2007. The overhaul is designed to improve the shopping experience for both professional contractors and private customers by enhancing product flow, visibility, and accessibility. Key product areas, including paint, power tools, fasteners, mouldings, floors, and doors, have been reorganised to make comparisons and selections easier, while extended opening hours now allow shopping from 5:00 a.m. on weekdays.

The refurbishment positions the store as a clearer one-stop shop, combining the lumberyard and retail assortment under a unified layout. Frank Bøgelund, timber cargo director at Davidsen Køge, emphasised that the goal was to simplify the construction process for customers and make shopping faster and more intuitive. The design focuses on bringing together exhibitions with key products to support both professional projects and home improvement needs.
Davidsen, headquartered in Kolding, operates 48 stores across Denmark and employs over 1,800 staff. The company became part of Finnish-listed trading group Kesko in 2024, while the Davidsen family remains involved in ownership. Recent financial reports show that revenue in 2024 reached DKK 3.03 billion, with operating profit of DKK 60.9 million. Despite industry-wide challenges, the renovation reflects Davidsen's ongoing commitment to enhancing customer experience, maintaining competitiveness, and supporting growth in Denmark's timber and construction retail sector.
