Ikea Denmark sees revenue rise but profits decline

Ikea Denmark maintained stable revenue in the 2024/25 financial year, increasing slightly to DKK 5.14 billion, but profitability fell sharply, with operating profit dropping to DKK 347 million from DKK 420 million the previous year. The profit margin declined from 8.2 percent to 6.8 percent, highlighting growing pressure on earnings despite steady sales. Management attributed the drop primarily to operational challenges and the absence of a one-time gain from the previous year, when the sale of land in Copenhagen significantly boosted profits.

The retailer faced low and unstable product availability during the first half of the year, which hindered its ability to achieve set targets. While revenue growth remained positive, the overall decline in earnings underscores the cost pressures and market uncertainties facing Denmark's largest furniture and home goods company. Ikea projects moderate revenue growth of 2.5–3 percent in the coming financial year, expecting total revenue of DKK 5.2–5.3 billion. Profit before tax is anticipated to remain at the current level, with potential for slight improvements depending on market conditions.

Despite challenges, Ikea continues to focus on operational stability and long-term growth, aiming to support its six-store network in Denmark while maintaining its competitive position in the furniture and interior design market. The results reflect broader industry pressures, including supply chain disruptions and rising costs, which are impacting margins across the retail sector. Ikea's Danish operations remain committed to adapting to these challenges while preparing for steady performance in 2026.
