European parquet flooring market shows signs of stabilisation in 2025

In 2025, the European parquet flooring market showed signs of stabilisation after reaching its lowest levels in 2024, according to the European Parquet Federation (FEP). The findings were presented during FEP's board meeting at the DOMOTEX flooring exhibition in Germany. Following a sharp decline in 2023, consumption fell slightly further in 2024, but 2025 saw the market stabilise, albeit at a low level. Activity began the year relatively strong but slowed after the summer, and costs for timber and energy remain elevated, continuing to put pressure on the industry.

Despite limited visibility for forecasting trends, FEP identified some potential positive factors. Early signs of recovery in construction activity, along with the European Commission's postponement and simplification of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), are expected to support the market. The anti-dumping measures on multilayer wood flooring from China, introduced in July 2025, are also anticipated to have continuing benefits. However, the lower prices of Chinese imports compared to the pre-investigative period and the growing influx of parquet products from other countries could weaken these protective measures. FEP is actively monitoring these developments and may request further assessment from the European Commission if necessary.

Full market data and further analysis will be presented at FEP's 70th General Assembly and 50th Parquet Congress on June 11–12, 2026, in Madrid. The federation defines parquet flooring as either engineered or multi-layer boards with a top wood layer thicker than 2.5mm, or as solid wood flooring boards.
