Silvia Ceñal presents EKI outdoor collection for SKLD Studio

Silvia Ceñal has unveiled the EKI Collection for SKLD Studio, an outdoor furniture range created specifically for the contract sector, including bistros, restaurants and hotels. The collection aims to strike a careful balance between comfort, originality and long-term durability for intensively used outdoor environments.

Named after the Basque word for "sun", Eki reflects the idea of bringing light, warmth and life into outdoor hospitality spaces. The collection has been conceived to go beyond purely functional outdoor furniture, introducing a stronger design identity while retaining the robustness required in professional settings.

A defining feature of the range is its enveloping curve, which gives the pieces their distinctive visual character while also enhancing ergonomics. In the seating, the curve embraces the user to provide sustained comfort, while in the tables it shapes sculptural structures that move away from conventional outdoor furniture forms. According to the designer, extensive prototyping was required to find the precise radius that delivers comfort without compromising industrial production.

The collection combines aluminium structures with teak slats of varying widths, creating a subtle visual rhythm while improving ventilation and allowing faster drying after rain – a key requirement for terraces and outdoor dining areas subject to heavy use. The aluminium frame is available in two finishes, White Wash and Carbon Matte, paired with teak to achieve a balance between strength, warmth and visual lightness. A rope weave option for the backrest of the armchairs and stools adds further flexibility for different hospitality concepts.

Designed to withstand outdoor conditions, the materials have been selected for durability and longevity, while also responding to sustainability criteria. Both aluminium and teak are long-lasting materials that age gracefully, ensuring the collection maintains its aesthetic appeal over time.

The EKI Collection consists of three core pieces developed in two versions, with the chair as the protagonist of the range, accompanied by tables and bar stools to create a coherent system for outdoor contract environments. Together, the pieces are intended to bring character to terraces and outdoor hospitality spaces, without compromising on everyday performance.
