While in-store homeware sales declined by -7.00% year-on-year, non-store sales grew by +14.20% from a base of +0.44% last year. Overall, total store LFL sales rose +2.44%, and non-store LFL sales grew +1.67%, reflecting a mixed but positive retail performance.
BDO highlighted that all major categories saw growth: lifestyle +0.81%, fashion +2.63%, and homewares +3.90%, despite widespread wet weather causing flooding risks. Footfall improved by +1.2%, driven by retail parks (+2.3%), shopping centres (+1.7%), and high streets (+0.3%).
The figures indicate sustained consumer demand for homeware, with strong online sales offsetting softer in-store performance. Retailers are benefiting from stable footfall and category growth, suggesting resilience in the sector amid challenging weather conditions.
