Italian furniture industry warns of supply chain disruption as U.S. tariffs fuel uncertainty

Italy's furniture and wood sector is warning of mounting supply chain risks as uncertainty grows around U.S. tariffs. FederlegnoArredo said recent developments are already affecting orders in delivery and could disrupt future exports, creating knock-on effects across manufacturers, suppliers, and logistics partners.

The association said the current climate of uncertainty is weighing on commercial planning and contract fulfilment, with repercussions for companies exposed to the U.S. market. It pledged to bring industry concerns directly to institutional decision-makers to seek urgent mitigation measures.

FederlegnoArredo president Claudio Feltrin called for swift action to protect Made in Italy exports, stating: 'We need to put in place all the tools that allow our companies to continue to export and diversify.' He urged coordinated interventions to safeguard international competitiveness and help firms adapt to shifting trade conditions.

Industry leaders warn that sudden tariff changes risk disrupting shipments already in transit, undermining pricing certainty and customer confidence. The sector is pressing for policy clarity and support measures to stabilise trade flows, protect order pipelines, and enable diversification into alternative markets while negotiations and legal pathways evolve.
