The MESSE C Furniture Fair will return to Fredericia from 26–29 April 2026 for its second edition, bringing together Scandinavian furniture manufacturers and buyers in a focused industry setting. Designed as a specialised platform for business and networking, the event continues to attract established producers presenting new directions and product developments.
Among the exhibitors is Skalma, one of Denmark's oldest furniture factories, headquartered in Viborg. Founded in 1904 producing mattresses made from dried seaweed and eelgrass from the Limfjord, the company today focuses on sofas, modular systems, swivel chairs and armchairs manufactured in Denmark, a positioning that has sustained its presence in the market for decades.

At this year's fair, Skalma will introduce three new product lines, Denmark, Living, and Basic, reflecting a recently implemented strategy aimed at broadening its market reach across different price points, design expressions and production methods. Sales manager Kristian Svarre, who joined the company last year and has led the strategic development, reported encouraging early feedback from retailers.
"Before Christmas, we had a dozen dealers in Viborg to introduce the concept, and it was very positively received. We are very much looking forward to meeting even more of our dealers at the FurnitureFair and hopefully also getting many orders in the book," says Kristian Svarre.
In addition to the new ranges, Skalma plans to present further product developments, including a new addition to its long-standing line of classic swivel chairs.
Svarre also reflected positively on the inaugural edition of the fair, highlighting its targeted format and professional visitor base.
"I think it was a really good setup. It was nicely targeted, nothing with lighting, children's furniture, toys or anything else. It's clear that the concept here doesn't bring in thousands of visitors, but that doesn't matter, because everyone we need to meet was there," emphasizes the sales manager.
He added that feedback from attendees suggests growing recognition of the event's value within the industry.
"I have heard several comments from people who said they had misjudged by only visiting the fair for one day. It is a nice statement that shows that there is really something to strive for," notes Kristian Svarre.
By combining heritage manufacturing with a revised commercial approach, Skalma aims to strengthen its position in the Scandinavian and wider European furniture market while leveraging the fair as a platform for dealer engagement and order generation.
