A family residence on the New South Wales coast has been transformed into a vibrant, immersive environment where nature and design converge. Located a few hours from Sydney, the 1990s colonial home has been reimagined as a multisensory experience rather than a conventional dwelling.

YSG Studio of Sydney renovated the house without altering its internal walls. Bathrooms, the kitchen and living spaces were overhauled, while the fireplace was expanded and clad in pastel patchwork with hints of shiraz. Over ten botanical and wildlife wallpapers now cover walls and ceilings, creating lush, narrative landscapes in every room.
The living room combines a farmhouse-style wooden table with eclectic chairs, a beige Aurélien Serre armchair and Victorian-inspired details, producing a cinematic, whimsical atmosphere. The entryway features an oversized butter-yellow door, brass hardware and a yellow-framed mirror, framing a portal into the fantastical interior.
Organic forms dominate the kitchen, with an amoeba-shaped wooden island and vintage rattan stools, while bathrooms showcase sherbet-coloured tubs, glittering mosaics and plants appearing to grow from ceilings. Bedrooms explore rich, cinematic palettes of merlot, violet and absinthe green, culminating in a main suite designed as an autumnal tableau, with ceiling stripes and sky-blue rugs framing forest views.

The home demonstrates how colour, pattern and imaginative design can transform interiors into a living storybook that blends reality and fantasy.
