Flooring division sale signals new chapter for German manufacturer

A leading German wood products group has agreed to sell its flooring division to private equity investor Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, with the transfer scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

The group, known for its HARO parquet brand, has previously reduced staffing by more than 200 positions across production, operations, and administrative roles at its Stephanskirchen and Rohrdorf factories. Investments in modernisation and automation have aimed to maintain competitiveness and secure the long-term viability of its German operations.

The sale to Mutares, a Munich-based investor specialising in revitalising companies under challenging circumstances, is intended to preserve the factories' operational future. Plans include continuing flooring production at the Stephanskirchen site and at the Sevlievo plant in Bulgaria.

"The agreement allows us to secure the ongoing operation of our facilities while positioning the business for sustainable growth," a company spokesperson said.

The deal reflects broader trends in the European flooring sector, where strategic divestments and private equity partnerships are increasingly used to combine operational efficiency with investment in modernised manufacturing.
