German kitchen industry edges through 2025 with minimal loss

The German kitchen furniture sector recorded a near-stable performance in 2025, according to data from the Verband der Deutschen Küchenmöbelindustrie and preliminary figures from the Statistisches Bundesamt. Total annual revenue amounted to just under €5.6 billion, down a marginal 0.3 percent compared with 2024.

Domestic sales contributed positively, rising by 0.3 percent over the year, while exports fell slightly by 0.94 percent, bringing the export share to 45.89 percent, a subtle decline of 0.34 percentage points. The industry's performance contrasts with larger losses in other furniture segments, such as upholstered furniture, which fell by 3.4 percent.

December offered a notable upswing, generating approximately €369 million in revenue, an increase of 5.9 percent year-on-year. Domestic sales led the recovery, climbing 8.55 percent, while foreign sales rose 2.86 percent, primarily driven by higher prices, despite the overall export share remaining slightly lower.

Industry leaders are cautiously optimistic that positive momentum could carry into 2026, particularly with easing trade tensions and opportunities from international events like the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show. Analysts, however, note that the market could remain volatile, with the risk of ups and downs in revenue continuing into the new year.

The figures suggest the kitchen segment remains resilient within Germany's broader furniture market, balancing modest domestic growth against slight export declines.
