A major flooring retailer has launched a new store at the Heart Shopping Centre in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, in the United Kingdom, expanding its presence in the town centre.

Welcoming the opening, chief executive Jeevan Karir said, "We're thrilled to be opening in Walton on Thames. Our friendly floorologist team are looking forward to welcoming customers through our doors." The new branch forms part of the continued growth of Tapi Carpets & Floors across the UK.
At the same time, an independent business in Scotland, also within the United Kingdom, is preparing to cease trading. Carpet World, based on Clarence Street in Greenock, has begun a closing down sale ahead of shutting on 26 February.
The company said goods have been reduced to "cost price or less" as it clears remaining stock and is accepting cash payments only during the final sale period.
The contrasting developments highlight diverging fortunes within the UK flooring retail sector, with expansion by larger chains occurring alongside the closure of smaller independent stores.
