Bridges cabinet expands with serene oyster white expression

BD has expanded its Bridges collection by Belgian designers Muller Van Severen with a new Oyster White colourway. First presented at Milan Design Week 2024, Bridges has quickly become a popular fixture within BD's collection.

The new cabinet is finished in a soft, high-gloss Oyster White lacquer and features a sculptural base available in Arch, Curtain, or Triangular forms. These designs navigate the space between structure and openness, solidity and air, maintaining the collection's architectural identity.

"We were interested in how the Bridges Cabinet interacts with light and atmosphere. This new colour and high-gloss surface reflects its surroundings and softens the object's presence, creating a sense of balance and calm. At the same time, the sculptural base remains strong and expressive. The cabinet feels grounded, but never heavy," said Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen.

The Oyster White iteration represents a deliberate evolution of the collection. While the original palette emphasised vibrancy and contrast, this new colour shifts focus toward the cabinet's volume. Monumental yet serene, it introduces a more composed expression while maintaining the same sculptural identity, allowing Bridges to integrate into a wider range of spaces and atmospheres.

Designed to be displayed alone or combined with other pieces, the Oyster White Bridges cabinet adapts across contexts while maintaining a distinct presence. It brings "an intentional sense of calm, demonstrating how restraint can be a powerful expression of character."

The Bridges collection developed from Muller Van Severen's 'Wave' vase series. Its distinctive silhouettes were reinterpreted into a series of handmade cabinets, each defined by a unique cut-out base that extends beyond pure function. Each model is available in three heights, Small, Medium and Large, and comes with three base options, allowing the cabinets to be used individually or in modular arrangements. This system introduces flexibility while preserving a strong architectural identity.

Glossy lacquered surfaces and bold colours emphasise the structures' volume, allowing each piece to stand out with sculptural clarity. Displayed alone or in composition, the Bridges cabinets create a dynamic arrangement full of personality.

The Bridges cabinet in Oyster White will be available through BD's website and network of retailers from the end of February 2026.
