Sofa.com, part of the Frasers Group, is set to close its York store in Coppergate after opening in summer 2022. The closure follows a running closing-down sale, offering discounts of up to 20%, and is expected to take place in the coming weeks once the sale concludes.

The retailer operates seven other UK stores, including locations in Bankside, Bath, Chelsea, Glasgow, Guildford, Nottingham, and Castleford, alongside 12 concessions within Frasers Group outlets.
Sofa.com reported a 17.2% decline in total sales for the year ending 30 April 2025, falling to £22.6m from £27.3m in 2024. Pre-tax losses reached £8.2m, reflecting ongoing challenges in the competitive furniture retail sector.
The York closure marks the end of Sofa.com's presence at that site, with the company continuing operations through its remaining stores and concessions while adjusting its business in response to declining sales.
