Cathay Home, a bedding and home goods retailer, has withdrawn its application to trademark "Swift Home" following an appeal from pop star Taylor Swift. The singer's team filed a notice with the US Patent and Trademark Office on 11 February, arguing that the branding closely resembled Swift's trademarked cursive mark and could mislead consumers into thinking she endorsed the products.

Cathay Home said the mark was not "essential to its business" and withdrew the application after evaluating the circumstances. Ting Geng, the company's lawyer, described the move as "practical and commercially sensible" and noted that a previous "consent-to-coexist agreement" existed for another Swift Home mark.
The trademark bid, filed in late 2025, aimed to cover bedding items sold through major retailers. Swift's legal team argued that the styling of the word "Swift" sought to leverage the singer's "goodwill and recognition" and created a "false association" with her brand.
Taylor Swift holds federal trademarks protecting her name, initials, album titles and select lyrics on goods including clothing, music merchandise, and bedding. She has filed more than 300 trademarks worldwide and is estimated to be worth over $1bn (£730m), boosted by record-breaking global live shows.
