A French furniture brand is confronting a critical crisis after the Romanian group SDC Holding withdrew its takeover bid on 12 February 2026, putting the future of several stores and nearly 300 jobs at risk.

The Marseille Commercial Court had placed Alinea under judicial recovery in November 2025 following a net loss of €47 million in 2024 on €160 million revenue, with a network reduced to 36 stores. The six-month observation period was intended to identify solutions for business continuity or sale. SDC Holding's initial plan sought to preserve 575 of the 1,200 employees, but its sudden withdrawal leaves large-scale closures possible, notably in Aubagne, Toulon, and Cabriès.

Company management and judicial administrators confirmed that the withdrawal was due to economic, legal, and financial uncertainties, reopening the prospect of full liquidation if no viable offer emerges. A court hearing is scheduled for early March 2026 to examine remaining proposals and decide the retailer's fate.

This development marks another chapter in a protracted legal and financial struggle for Alinea, highlighting the fragility of its business model amid market changes and mounting competition.
