Eran Yaron, CEO, on building a furniture brand that stands out in a crowded market

SQUR8 aims to break the pattern of sameness in the furniture and design industry

In the global interiors market often shaped by repetition and safe commercial formulas, a new generation of brands is challenging the status quo. For SQUR8, founded just 18 months ago, the ambition is clear: create a furniture and lifestyle company built not on sameness, but on distinct vision.

Eran Yaron, CEO of SQUR8, shares how more than 25 years in international sourcing and trading led him to a decisive moment. 'We kept seeing the same patterns repeated,' he explains. 'If we simply do what everyone else is doing, particularly in Asia where manufacturing is extremely strong, there is no real reason for us to build a business around that.'

That conviction became the starting point for SQUR8.

Simply unique, uniquely simple
At the heart of the brand sits a philosophy Eran summarises as 'simply unique, uniquely simple'. For him, simplicity does not equate to basic or inexpensive. 'Simplicity does not mean basic or cheap,' he says. 'It means something that is not overcomplicated, but absolutely spot on. At the same time, it has to be distinctive and different from what is already out there.'

Eran's background in sourcing, quality control and global trading through sister company Orange and Dragon International provides the operational foundation. However, SQUR8 represents something more personal. 'I am personally invested in this,' he states. 'We either succeed in building something that offers a truly unique proposition, or it simply is not worth doing.'

That mindset extends beyond product aesthetics. From craftsmanship to logistics, every detail is carefully considered. Even packaging reflects the brand's values. 'We consider every detail, from how the product is boxed and shipped to the branding, the quality of the cardboard and the way everything is wrapped. No plastic. It has to be more environmentally responsible,' Eran explains.

Global sourcing with local excellence
Unlike many brands that centralise production, SQUR8 follows a different route. Manufacturing is currently based largely in China, where Eran has long standing relationships and expertise. Yet production decisions are driven by product requirements rather than convenience.

'If we want an exceptional leather sofa, we will go to Italy,' he says. 'If there is a specialist elsewhere in the world, that is who we will work with. We go directly to the source to create the very best product.'

This global network inevitably creates a complex supply chain. Eran acknowledges the challenge, but sees it as manageable through planning and experienced back-office coordination. 'It ultimately comes down to organisation,' he explains. 'With proper planning and coordination, we can align everything so it arrives at its destination at exactly the right time.'

For European retailers and distributors, this approach offers a different proposition: curated collections shaped by international craftsmanship rather than price driven volume.

Importance of the right partners
'SQUR8's growth in a competitive market depends on finding the right partners,' Eran says. 'Partners who serve markets that are looking for something different.'

Rather than targeting every retailer, SQUR8 seeks collaborators who understand design narrative and are willing to position distinctive pieces within their portfolios. 'If someone is simply importing the same products as everyone else, then they are not the right partner for SQUR8,' Eran notes.

The company is actively researching territorial partners, expanding its presence at international fairs and preparing new collections annually. Each launch is designed to offer a fresh vision rather than a repeat of an established formula.

'We see this as a journey to create value by designing beautiful and distinctive pieces for people's homes,' Eran concludes.

In a sector navigating digital transformation and shifting consumer expectations, SQUR8 is betting on differentiation, craftsmanship and carefully chosen partnerships as the foundation for long term growth.
