Store-based homewares sales rose by 8.65% year-on-year, against a base of 11.22%, representing the second consecutive week of in-store growth. Non-store homewares sales also performed well, climbing 3.95% from a base of 1.93% last year.
Across all categories, total in-store LFL sales increased by 2.70%, while non-store sales rose 2.38%, recovering from a negative base of -4.15% in the comparable week last year.
The positive performance came despite significant weather disruption. BDO noted that Storm Chandra brought intense rain, strong winds and snowfall across the UK, impacting shopper activity. Overall footfall declined by 3.5%, with high street footfall down 4.7%, shopping centres down 3.0% and retail parks down 1.5%.
Despite the challenging conditions, homewares continued to demonstrate resilience, sustaining momentum in both physical and online channels.
