The historic Palazzetto Acqualunga, a private country residence overlooking the Mincio Valley, has been enhanced with a bespoke lighting installation by Catellani & Smith. Celebrated for its contemporary rustic architecture, the residence features wood prominently, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The centrepiece of the lighting design is the Pòta! suspension lamp, custom-designed for the project. Installed in the stairwell, the fixture extends vertically to a height of 6.5 meters, guiding movement across the home's levels while accentuating the natural textures of wood in the beams, handrails, doors, and parquet floors. Two Pòta! units, each 50 cm in diameter, are complemented by a Spot Light at the base, projecting a focused beam that balances the composition.
A bespoke cylindrical base was created to accommodate the ceiling's inclination, while the brass spheroidal structure houses 18 handmade LED filament light units, merging precision with irregularity. The installation demonstrates Catellani & Smith's mastery of craftsmanship, combining technical innovation with a distinct artistic vision to create a unique, site-specific lighting piece.
"This project illustrates how bespoke lighting can transform a space, enhancing architectural features while generating an emotional and visual experience," the brand notes. The stairwell installation highlights the company's commitment to custom solutions and its ability to fuse functional design with expressive artistry.
