Humanscale, the leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance ergonomic products, has officially opened its first Australian showroom, marking a major milestone in its global expansion and commitment to the APAC region.
The showroom is located within the Royal Exchange Assurance Building on Pitt Street, an iconic twelve-storey modernist structure designed by Melbourne-based partnership Seabrook and Fildes. Widely recognised as Sydney's first modernist high-rise with a full glass façade, the building is a landmark of Inter-War Functionalist architecture and a pivotal point in the city's commercial architecture history.

Designed in collaboration with Suchi Reddy of Reddymade New York and Tribe Studio Australia, the showroom blends architectural heritage with contemporary design. The space highlights Humanscale's award-winning ergonomic solutions while respecting the building's principles of light, transparency, and functional clarity. "Our goal was to create a showroom where architecture and products work together to support the body, mind, and rhythms of daily work," says Reddy.
Strategically positioned in Sydney's design and business district, the showroom offers a prominent street presence and expansive glazing, connecting the interior with the city beyond. Mark Nolan, Managing Director Australia & New Zealand, emphasises the showroom's importance: "This space allows us to engage more deeply with the local design community and demonstrate firsthand how ergonomics, sustainability, and intelligent design can transform the way people work."

Visitors can experience a full range of Humanscale products in realistic work environments, including task and conference seating such as Freedom, Liberty, World, Summa, and Path chairs, height-adjustable tables, monitor arms, task lighting, docking stations, and integrated accessories. Collaborative zones, occasional seating, and quieter spaces provide a versatile environment for both interaction and focused work.
Sustainability is central to the showroom, from material selection to product curation, reflecting Humanscale's long-standing commitment to responsible manufacturing and planet-positive design. As a certified B Corporation, Humanscale leads in climate-positive manufacturing, with 29 products certified by the International Living Future Institute's Living Product Challenge.

The Sydney showroom is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., by appointment, offering the Australian design and workplace community a first-hand experience of Humanscale's ergonomic philosophy.
