Molteni&C presents Gio Ponti Objects Collection at Art Basel Qatar 2026

Molteni&C presented the Gio Ponti Objects Collection for the first time within its Doha Design District boutique during Art Basel Qatar 2026, marking a new chapter in its long-standing collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives.

The presentation was accompanied by an intimate conversation featuring Francesca Molteni, author, director and founder of MUSE Factory of Projects, and Salvatore Licitra, curator of the Gio Ponti Archives. The discussion explored the evolving relationship between the Italian furniture brand and the Archive, a partnership that began in 2012 with the launch of the Molteni&C Heritage Collection.

That year, Molteni&C signed an agreement granting the company worldwide exclusive rights to reissue and commercialise all furnishings designed by Gio Ponti, except those already licensed to other manufacturers. The initiative led to an extensive research and prototyping process focused on reintroducing selected furniture pieces originally conceived as one-offs or limited editions. Developed in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, the Heritage Collection includes furniture and accessories designed between 1935 and the 1970s.

The newly unveiled Gio Ponti Objects Collection represents a further evolution of this research, shifting attention from furniture to a more intimate dimension of Ponti's creative universe. Following its exclusive global preview at the Armoury of the Poldi Pezzoli Museum during Milan Design Week 2025, the collection is now presented for the first time in a Molteni&C retail setting.

Displayed in a dedicated layout within the Doha boutique, the collection comprises decorative and functional objects including sculptural hands, Etruscan-inspired pieces, horses and birds, wooden bottles, trays, vases and candleholders. Developed through a detailed process of archival study and prototyping, the objects reinterpret Ponti's poetic and symbolic language, bringing archival designs into contemporary living environments.
