Outdoor furniture brand SKLD Studio will expand its KORO collection, designed by Eli Gutiérrez, with three new pieces to be unveiled at Salone del Mobile 2026 in April. The additions further develop a collection that merges Japanese cultural references with contemporary outdoor craftsmanship.

Originally presented at a previous edition of the Salone, KORO draws inspiration from the traditional Japanese kōro, an incense container characterised by soft, rounded forms. In Japanese culture, incense has historically accompanied rituals, readings and moments of reflection, serving as a sensory tool for concentration and the marking of time. The kōro is considered a threshold object between the visible and invisible, matter and air.
Translating this philosophy into outdoor furniture, Gutiérrez conceived a series of pieces defined by organic, monolithic volumes and essential curves. The collection currently includes a lounge armchair, daybed and swing – each available in low or high backrest versions – alongside two side tables and two lamps. Generous seating proportions and enveloping backrests are combined with a distinctive macramé weaving technique.
The woven structure is created through a combination of rope and horizontal webbing straps, forming what the designer describes as a graphic and tactile "skin" that wraps around the aluminium frame. "I wanted the weaving to convey character and softness, like a garment that wraps the body with elegance and meaning," explains Eli Gutiérrez. She adds that the development process was rooted in experimentation and creative dialogue, allowing the exploration of new weaving forms specifically conceived for the collection.
Handcrafted and designed to withstand outdoor conditions, each piece integrates artisanal know-how with material research. High-performance Agora® fabrics made from 100% solution-dyed acrylic fibre ensure durability, resistance and ease of maintenance, while cushions are customisable in a wide range of colours. The collection is available in two core finishes: beige and brown.
