Valcucine launches Domus Anthology II: a global survey of contemporary living

Italian luxury kitchen brand Valcucine has unveiled Domus Anthology – Volume II, a publication showcasing eighteen residential projects worldwide that trace the evolution of contemporary high-end interior design.

Domus Anthology II is conceived as "a true international observatory of contemporary design, told through eighteen residential projects developed in profoundly different geographic and cultural contexts." Valcucine emphasises that the publication is "not conceived as a simple collection of interiors, but as a critical tool for reading the transformations of contemporary living on a global scale."

The volume spans diverse landscapes and cities, from the Scottish Highlands to the Dolomites, Australian woodlands, and major Asian metropolises, connecting architecture, landscape, and interior design. In Scotland, Cuddymoss by Ann Nisbet Studio explores historical stratification, grafting a timber volume onto existing stone structures to redefine thresholds and proportions. In the Dolomites, Matteo Perbellini's San Cassiano residence creates "an intimate dialogue with the alpine landscape, working on sensory density and a sense of retreat."

Australian project Yarra Valley House by JAM Architects overturns the interior-nature relationship. Rammed-earth walls, reclaimed timbers, and expansive glazing create a permeable environment, where architecture seems to emerge naturally from the land.

Asian cities receive particular attention: in Shanghai, Kingdom Villa by MOOOMA Studio – Eva Liu interweaves art, collecting, and domestic life into a unified spatial language, while in Taipei, Instay Studio emphasises "rarefaction," using neutral tones, visual continuity, and measured lighting to convey designed calm in densely urban contexts.

Later sections feature projects from Europe, the Middle East, India, and the United States by studios such as Meganom, TuTu Studio, HP Lakhani Associates, Carl Abbott, Fusionstudio, and Nazareno Architecture & Design, illustrating evolving concepts of living in fluid, hierarchical-free spaces.

Domus Anthology II positions itself as "a tool for reading ongoing transformations: from the fading of functional hierarchies to the construction of interiors that mediate between private life and landscape, up to the use of light as a true design material." The publication highlights the role of kitchens and domestic spaces in shaping identity, relationships, and quality of living.
