€2 million cannabis haul intercepted at Dublin Airport in "linen bedding" shipment

Revenue officers have seized more than €2 million worth of cannabis at Dublin Airport after discovering the drugs concealed in a package labelled "linen bedding". The seizure, carried out during a routine operation on 6 February 2026, involved 107kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of approximately €2.15 million.

According to Revenue, the cannabis was vacuum-packed and hidden inside boxes falsely declared as household goods. The consignment originated in the United States and was destined for an address in Northern Ireland.

A Revenue spokesperson said the seizure forms part of ongoing efforts targeting the importation of illegal drugs into Ireland. Investigations into the attempted smuggling operation are continuing.

The interception highlights the role of customs controls at major transport hubs and the continued use of deceptive packaging methods by organised drug networks seeking to exploit international supply routes.
