Brandt liquidation attracts 36 bids as buyers eye factories, brands, and inventory

The French appliance manufacturer Brandt, which recently entered liquidation, has attracted significant interest from the market, with thirty-six bids submitted to acquire its assets. These assets include the company's factories, brands, and an inventory of more than 172,000 household appliances. Among the bidders, Fnac-Darty offered €2.9 million to acquire the brands and inventory, while the Fournier group submitted a bid of €500,000 specifically for the Sauter brand.

The discount retailer Noz, known for purchasing stock from companies in liquidation, proposed €4.5 million to acquire all of Brandt's former products, and the Polish appliance manufacturer Amica entered the bidding with an offer of €2.5 million for the Brandt and Sauter brands.

Only four of the nearly forty bids included plans to retain employees. The Île-de-France region and the municipality of Cergy-Pontoise proposed taking over the Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône factory, pledging €15 million in support to continue production. Stephan Français, head of Metavisio, offered to expand production to include IT products and retain 150 employees. Other smaller offers came from the Orléans metropolitan area and EverEver, a French-made dishwasher startup.

These takeover bids are currently under review by the Nanterre Commercial Court, with close monitoring from the French Ministry of Economy to ensure that the liquidation process is managed effectively and that the interests of employees and other stakeholders are considered.
