Andrew Martin reports 37% increase in swivel chair sales signalling shift toward design-led, flexible seating

Global design brand Andrew Martin has reported a 37% year-on-year increase in swivel chair sales, highlighting a growing demand for versatile, design-led seating that moves effortlessly between work, leisure and living spaces.

Once largely confined to the home office, the swivel chair has evolved into a statement piece used throughout the home, from living rooms and bedrooms to reading corners and open-plan interiors. The rise reflects changing lifestyles, where flexibility, comfort and visual impact are increasingly prioritised.

Swivel chairs are often the first seat to be claimed in a room, valued for their ability to rotate, engage and adapt to different moments of the day. Their movement introduces a sense of playfulness while encouraging relaxation, conversation and ease. In open-plan environments especially, the ability to turn between zones adds both functionality and social flow.

Martin Waller, Founder of Andrew Martin, comments:
"Swivel chairs bring both style and functionality to a space. Their ability to rotate makes them ideal for open-plan layouts, allowing seamless interaction between different areas of a room. With their sculptural presence, they also act as an inviting focal point."

Andrew Martin's collection spans contemporary desk chairs, plush lounge designs and outdoor swivel seating, offering options that balance comfort with strong design identity. Upholstered in rich fabrics and refined finishes, the chairs are crafted to complement both modern and eclectic interiors.

The continued growth in swivel chair sales underlines a broader shift in interior design: furniture that is no longer fixed to a single purpose, but instead supports more fluid, adaptable ways of living.
