String Furniture and Grythyttan Stålmöbler unveil fresh take on Stockholm Furniture Fair

During Stockholm Design Days 2026 that has been taking place since the 2nd of February and runs through to 6 February, two Swedish design icons, String Furniture and Grythyttan Stålmöbler, presented a new joint initiative that signals a refreshed approach to the Stockholm Furniture Fair experience.

New for 2026: String system, dark brown & dark oak from String Furniture.

Titled The Building, the exhibition was staged inside a historic three-storey mansion from 1648 at Västra Trädgårdsgatan 9 in central Stockholm. Rather than a conventional fair setting, the initiative brought together leading Nordic brands, including HAHA studio, ateljé Lyktan, Gemla, Källemo and Made by Choice, in a curated, architectural environment focused on craftsmanship, collaboration and contemporary Scandinavian design.

Throughout the week, The Building functioned as a hub for press, architects, interior designers and industry professionals, hosting press previews, guided tours and networking events. Against this backdrop, both brands unveiled their 2026 product launches.

String Furniture introduced new additions that build on its Swedish heritage and modular design legacy. Highlights include the iconic String System and String Pocket in new Dark Brown and Dark Oak finishes, a Beige Museum Candle Holder by TAF Studio, a new Display Cabinet for Pira by Anna von Schewen & Björn Dahlström, and a Work Desk in a new size, responding to evolving flexible workspace needs. Over 95% of String's production continues to take place in Sweden, using renewable, recyclable or recycled materials.

New for 2026: Sofa 3, from Grythyttan Stålmöbler.

Grythyttan Stålmöbler, celebrating more than 130 years of craftsmanship, unveiled Bovik, a new outdoor furniture range that blends modern refinement with classic durability. Additional 2026 updates include a Dark Red Lacquered Oak finish for the Classic Series, Sofa 3 (a more compact alternative to Sofa 5), a new High Tech Table in Charcoal, and expanded designs within the Libelle collection.

Together, the initiative reflects a broader shift toward more curated, experience-driven design presentations, and positions Stockholm Design Days as an increasingly important platform for Nordic furniture innovation.
