Vietnam, the second largest furniture exporter to the Western market after China, sees order books filling up rapidly for the first quarter of 2026. According to recent market analysis by Vietnam.vn, manufacturers are benefiting from a recovery in global demand for wooden furniture and interior accessories.
The "Tet peak": home renovation as tradition
The days leading up to Chinese New Year are crucial for Vietnam's economy. Families refresh their homes to enforce good luck for the new year. This translates directly into high demand for:
- Solid wood furniture: traditionally the most popular choice due to durability and status.
- Modern living room arrangements: the combination of local aesthetics and Western design is increasingly taking over.
- Fast delivery times: manufacturers are working overtime to meet tight deadlines for the holiday season.
Vietnam as a strategic partner for Europe
For European and Dutch retailers, Vietnam is of great importance. With the shift of production from China, the country has become a major player in sustainably produced wooden furniture. At the same time, the current boom period brings challenges, such as rising raw material prices and logistics tightness at the ports of Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong.
Forecast 2026
The Vietnamese government is committed to further professionalising the sector. With investments in high-tech production lines and a focus on certified FSC timber, the country aims to consolidate its position as a stable supplier to the global market. The domestic consumption boom is seen as a sign of a growing middle class, which also offers opportunities for European exporters to Asia.
