New research by British Wool, the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO), and Bangor University has found wool to be the most effective fibre for regulating temperature and managing moisture during sleep. The study compared full-sized duvets of similar Tog ratings (10–10.5) made from wool, down, feather and down, and synthetic (polyester).

Wool outperformed other fillings in thermal insulation, retaining heat 17% better than down, 25% better than synthetic, and 30% better than feather and down. Tests on moisture management showed wool absorbed the least and transmitted sweat away from the body most efficiently, helping sleepers avoid overheating and disruptions at night.
Chris Tattersall, MD of Woolroom and active IWTO researcher, said, "Wool is a miracle fibre that can completely transform sleep quality." Wool is also renewable, chemical-free, and hypoallergenic, making it increasingly popular among those experiencing night sweats, menopause symptoms, or allergies.
Woolroom, an East Midlands family-run business, has experienced strong growth, including international expansion to the US and China. To mark the study, the company launched the 'Bangor of a Sleep Guarantee', offering a 60-day trial with full refunds for dissatisfied customers.
