Beaulieu International Group (B.I.G.) today, Thursday 29 January, announced the acquisition of IFG Asota GMBH, an Austrian producer of synthetic staple fibres. With this strategic acquisition, the West Flanders multinational takes a major step in strengthening its 'Fibres' division and accelerates its ambitions in sustainable non-woven solutions for the flooring industry, among others.

The acquisition, which is expected to be completed by mid-February 2026, is part of B.I.G.'s long-term strategy to become the world's most complete expert in staple fibres. IFG Asota is known for its deep expertise in polypropylene (PP), polyamide (PA) and biopolymers (such as PLA), materials essential for high-value markets such as flooring, automotive and technical textile applications.
Innovation strength and R&D
A crucial part of the acquisition is IFG Asota's research centre in Austria. This centre has a unique pilot line that allows rapid prototyping of new fibres. For Beaulieu, this means a significant acceleration of its roadmap to product leadership, especially in the field of bio-based and recycled polymers.
"Our ambition is clear," states Jean-Baptiste De Ruyck, CEO of Beaulieu International Group. "We are building a flexible and agile global platform that strengthens our leadership, deepens our presence in existing markets and opens the door to new, unexplored areas. The acquisition of Asota accelerates this journey."
Strategic partnership
In addition to the purchase agreement, a so-called toll manufacturing agreement has been signed with IFG Exelto. This means that Exelto will continue to produce fibres on behalf of Beaulieu Fibres International (BFI) after completion of the transaction. This construction guarantees the necessary operational flexibility and ensures security of supply for existing customers during the integration phase.
Focus on sustainability
For the interior and flooring sector, the acquisition is relevant because of the growing demand for sustainable raw materials. By combining Beaulieu's industrial clout with Asota's specialised materials expertise, the group will be better able to respond to the stricter environmental requirements within the European non-woven market.
The transaction is subject to customary conditions precedent. No financial details of the acquisition will be disclosed.
Beaulieu International Group is a global player in flooring and materials, from raw material production through technical components to finished flooring and other material solutions for residential and commercial environments.
