Two are critical

Fatal accident at Indian furniture factory claims three lives

Three workers died and two remain in critical condition after inhaling toxic fumes in a furniture factory in Dhandhur village near Hisar (India) on Monday. The workers, who had arrived in the village just five days earlier, reportedly lit a fire in an iron bucket inside a closed room to keep warm and went to sleep. The fire caused a buildup of toxic gases, leading to asphyxiation.

The deceased were identified as Anuj and Sahil from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Amarjeet from Ambedkar Colony, Hisar. The critically injured, Shiva and Sanjay, were transferred to a private hospital in Hisar. Anuj had been married only two months ago.

Suspicion arose around 1 p.m. when lights remained on in the room with no movement. Fellow workers discovered the unconscious men through a window and attempted to extinguish the fire and rescue them. Authorities confirmed that the room was locked from the inside when the fire was still burning.

Police are investigating the incident, and further action will be taken after formalities are completed. Factory officials and local authorities have urged better safety protocols to prevent such tragedies in industrial workplaces.
