House of Capricorn unveils a new chapter of contemporary Portuguese craftsmanship

House of Capricorn returned to Maison & Objet Paris from 15 to 19 January, reaffirming its presence on the international design stage with a 70 sqm stand that offered an immersive expression of the brand's vision of slow luxury and Portuguese craftsmanship, reimagined for a sophisticated global audience.

Following a widely acclaimed debut, the brand, founded by Paula Amorim under the Amorim Luxury Group, returned with new creations, new categories, and a new narrative: "Welcome to the House of Capricorn", a conceptual home where tradition and contemporaneity coexisted, and where Portuguese crafts found renewed forms of expression.

New Creations and New Categories
During this edition, House of Capricorn unveiled an expanded selection of product novelties. The tableware collection grew with the launch of new hand-painted dinnerware, including the Lusitano service and a new black-and-white Viana service, revisiting traditional motifs through a graphic and contemporary lens. The textile universe deepened with the introduction of hand-embroidered blankets, reinforcing the brand's ongoing dialogue with ancestral techniques.

Iconic silhouettes returned in new colourways, reaffirming House of Capricorn's distinctive visual language through colour and materiality. At the same time, the brand introduced a new category with the debut of handmade scented ceramic candles, expanding its material and sensory universe through a newly explored craft.

More than a stand, House of Capricorn's space at Maison & Objet was conceived as a home, a place of encounter between different crafts, materials, and narratives. The campaign "Welcome to the House of Capricorn" invited visitors to step into a world where Portuguese craftsmanship was reimagined through a contemporary vision, designed for a discerning international audience attuned to authenticity, human touch, and the value of time.

An Invitation to Discovery
At Maison & Objet Paris, House of Capricorn presented itself as a bridge between heritage and innovation, between Portugal and the world. Visitors experienced a home where multiple stories, techniques, and expressions coexisted, and where each object reflected a contemporary vision of craftsmanship as a living cultural language.

At the core of House of Capricorn remained a strong commitment to Portuguese craftsmanship. The brand worked closely with small, often family-run workshops, supporting both the preservation and evolution of crafts such as embroidery, ceramics, glassblowing, and wicker and reed weaving. All pieces were produced in limited quantities, privileging handmade processes and responsibly sourced materials, within a conscious production model aligned with the principles of slow luxury.

Following its debut at Maison & Objet in January 2025, the brand established an international presence, represented by 50 selected retailers across key global markets including France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, the United Kingdom, China, and the United States.

A Continued Commitment to Craftsmanship and Conscious Production
House of Capricorn demonstrated that tradition and innovation could coexist harmoniously, offering visitors a curated experience of contemporary Portuguese craftsmanship.
