Danish machine manufacturer reports DKK 16 million loss after strategic shift to process lines

A Danish machinery manufacturer, which supplies equipment for wood and metal surface treatment, posted a pre-tax loss of DKK 16 million in its latest financial statements. The company attributes the loss to a strategic shift from selling individual machines to offering complete process lines, combined with cancelled orders and a loss-making project.

Ceetec, was founded in 1970 and is based in Nørre Aaby, Funen, Ceetec produces painting machines, sanding machines, and drying ovens for the wood industry. Revenue fell significantly following the strategy change, prompting a reduction of 20 staff over the past 18 months; the company now employs 35 people.

To strengthen liquidity, owners converted DKK 4.7 million of debt into share capital, while the bank continues to provide credit with reduced exposure. CEO Janni Frandsen expects an operating profit of DKK 3–5 million for the current financial year and reports full capacity utilisation for the first half of 2026.

For furniture manufacturers, wood processors, and interiors suppliers, Ceetec's experience highlights the risks and opportunities of transitioning from component sales to integrated solutions, while demonstrating the importance of strategic planning and operational resilience in a challenging market.
