Founded in 2009, Calma is an independent outdoor furniture brand from the Empordà region in Spain. True to its name, calma, meaning calm in Spanish and Catalan, the brand approaches design as a way of life rather than a response to fleeting trends. Sun, sea, rocky coastlines and the northerly tramuntana winds shape both its philosophy and its products.

Calma was present at Maison&Objet, where it showcased its latest collections and reaffirmed its commitment to responsible, timeless outdoor design. The brand's stand reflected its core values: simplicity, craftsmanship and a deep connection to place.
Craftsmanship and local know-how
At the heart of Calma lies a strong belief in local production. The brand works closely with manufacturers and craftspeople from its region, entrusting experts who understand materials, tradition and making at the highest level. Their knowledge is embedded into every product, ensuring durability and authenticity while reinforcing Calma's commitment to responsible design.
Rejecting throwaway culture, Calma consciously distances itself from fast-moving trends. Instead, it focuses on creating outdoor furniture that is original, enduring and unmistakably Calma, pieces designed to be enjoyed slowly and over time.

New collections for 2026
Among the highlights presented at Maison&Objet was Xiprer, a luminaire designed by Pete Sans. Defined by slender vertical lines, the design has a distinctly Mediterranean character. Crafted with an Iroko wood body, a zinc-plated steel base and a technical acrylic shade, the lamp combines outdoor durability with a warm LED glow.
The Pepona collection, designed by Andreu Carulla, explores structure and precision through curved steel rods that are carefully spot-welded to reduce joints to a minimum. Finished with zinc plating or oven-baked enamel paint, the collection is built to withstand outdoor conditions.
Also featured was the Brava collection, which includes chairs, tables, armchairs and a three-seater. Solid Iroko wood structures are paired with water-repellent Agora fabrics or traditional ceramics from La Bisbal, evoking the strength and sobriety of the Costa Brava landscape.

Signature design language
Calma's signature collections underline its design-led approach. Lou, developed with Studio Inma Bermúdez, is a soft-furniture collection consisting of a pouf, lounge chair and sofa, combining sculptural lightness with exceptional comfort. Another standout is Coqueta, the iconic chair by Pete Sans and Gold Delta Award winner, reintroduced as a milestone of Spanish design.
From seating and lighting to rugs, tables and accessories, Calma continues to shape outdoor living through a thoughtful balance of comfort, craftsmanship and timeless Mediterranean character.
