On the night of 21 January, Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on southern Odesa (Ukraine), damaging residential and industrial infrastructure and injuring a 50-year-old man, according to Oleg Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration (ukrinform.net). Fires broke out at private homes and a furniture warehouse, which rescuers extinguished.

The broader front remained active, with 110 clashes recorded across Ukraine on 20 January. Russian forces launched five missile strikes, 74 air attacks, and deployed 7,754 kamikaze drones, alongside 3,814 artillery shellings, targeting both military positions and populated areas. The heaviest combat occurred in the Pokrovsk sector, where Ukrainian forces repelled 36 attacks.
Other active sectors included Sumy, Kharkiv, Lyman, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, and Oleksandrivka. Ukrainian units successfully defended multiple settlements, while some regions, including Prydniprovske and Volyn, saw no offensive activity.
Since the start of the invasion on 24 February 2022, Russian military losses total approximately 1,229,740 personnel, with 1,170 casualties reported on 20 January alone.
