UK kitchen manufacturer enters administration as Wren acquires IP

A West Yorkshire-based manufacturer has entered administration, with parts of the business sold through a pre-pack deal to Wren Trade Kitchens, a subsidiary of Wren Kitchens. James Clark and Will Wright of Interpath were appointed joint administrators on 19 January, immediately completing the sale of Moores' customer list and certain intellectual property assets.

Founded in 1947, Moores grew into a long-established supplier of kitchens to housebuilders, the public sector and affordable housing providers. However, the business has faced increasingly difficult trading conditions in recent months, reflecting wider pressures across the construction supply chain. Rising input costs and subdued housebuilding activity weighed heavily, despite progress on cost reduction and efforts to grow market share.

The directors explored a range of options, including potential sales and investment, but ultimately concluded that no solvent outcome was achievable, prompting the decision to appoint administrators. The company's manufacturing facility will continue operating for a short period to complete work in progress, with administrators prioritising efforts to minimise disruption for customers.

Around 336 employees have been retained temporarily to support this process, although approximately 124 redundancies have been confirmed. Affected staff will receive support in making claims through the Redundancy Payments Service.

Interpath said the transaction would help preserve Moores' manufacturing heritage within the Wren group, while Wren confirmed it will offer affected customers the option to transfer outstanding contracts seamlessly. Wren also said it would engage with Moores' management to explore potential employment opportunities for impacted staff.
