A Danish furniture manufacturer, family-owned for 131 years, reported nearly zero profit for the second consecutive year, earning just 23,000 DKK in 2025. Co-owner Anders Juul Eilersen attributed the weak results to a lack of consumer demand, particularly in the mid-range sofa segment around 30,000 DKK, rather than rising material costs.

The company, Eilersen, with production in Slovakia and China, has maintained its workforce despite declining earnings, prioritising long-term investment and operational capacity. While the U.S. market, a key export destination, faces uncertainty and low footfall, Eilersen remains financially stable with equity of 65 million DKK, enabling continued investments. The management emphasises confidence in the brand's future, expecting demand to rebound and sustain the company for generations to come.
