A Central Jutland tabletop manufacturer, reported a DKK 13.2 million loss for fiscal year 2024/25, falling short of expectations by DKK 18 million. CEO Ole Madsen attributes the deficit to a slowdown in the kitchen industry, which is affecting the broader sector.

The company, Horn Bordplader, has invested heavily in a new 4,500 m² automated stone factory completed in 2023, allowing in-house production of stone and ceramic worktops, a growing segment approaching the price range of wood-based products.
Since becoming CEO in April 2025, Madsen has launched a new strategy focused on efficiency and profitability. Horn Bordplader aims for a positive operating result of DKK 2–4 million in 2025/26, supported by early sales growth and projected 5–10% construction sector growth in 2026.
Founded in 2001, the company traces its roots to tabletop production started by founders Karl Nielsen and Ove Jørgensen in the early 1990s.
