Pentik on their playful Nordic design and exhibition at Maison&Objet 2026

'Our hand-painted patterns, sculptural ceramics, and tactile textiles all celebrate the Scandinavian way of living'

For over 50 years, Finnish brand Pentik has been synonymous with Nordic design, craftsmanship, and a love of nature. Founded in 1971 by artist Anu Pentik, the company's origins are as distinctive as its products.

A move to Posio in Finnish Lapland inspired by the region's rugged landscapes, ever-changing seasons, and authentic people gave rise to the first products that Anu Pentik first manufactured from her home back then. There, Anu began creating handmade ceramics that captured the raw beauty of Lapland, an approach that continues to define Pentik today.

'Pentik was born—own, genuine, and beautiful,' explains Luisa Laine, Marketing Director. 'From our early handmade ceramics to the modern lifestyle collections we offer now, the core philosophy remains: blend nature and design in everything we do.' This philosophy is evident in iconic pieces like the Kaamoskivi chandelier, inspired by Lapland's boulder-strewn terrain, reflecting the imperfect yet stunning forms of the natural world

Nordic heritage as creative DNA
Pentik's Arctic location and Nordic roots strongly influence both design and production. 'Authenticity is at the heart of everything we do,' says Anna-Kaisa Granlund, Key Account Manager. 'Our hand-painted patterns, sculptural ceramics, and tactile textiles all celebrate the Scandinavian way of living, creating homes that feel welcoming, poetic, and timeless.'

The brand's design language is both functional and aesthetic, balancing artistry with everyday usability. 'All items, except a few purely decorative objects, carry functionality,' notes Anette Odenwall, Design and Purchasing Manager. 'It's not just decoration; it's design to be used, enjoyed, and lived with.'

Staying relevant in a fast-changing market
Pentik's design teams actively track trends in living and lifestyle, particularly as younger consumers embrace flexible, style-driven interiors. Ceramics and textiles remain the brand's pillars, with collections curated to integrate Nordic minimalism with playful, tactile elements. 'We listen closely to our loyal customers and B2B partners, but trends are important too,' Luisa says. 'We integrate them into our main product categories while maintaining the Pentik identity.'

The company has also expanded internationally, with strongholds in Finland, Scandinavia, Central Europe, and growing markets in North America and Asia. Distribution channels include their retail chain in Finland and a robust web presence that reaches global buyers. Upcoming trade events, such as Maison & Objet in Paris, are opportunities to showcase Pentik's international collections and forge new wholesale partnerships.

Highlighting collections at Maison&Objet
At the fair which commences today, Pentik will present three focal points: the continuous collection, the Spring collection, and a preview of Autumn. Each collection reflects the brand's guiding principles of craftsmanship, tactile experience, and nature-inspired design.

Among standout pieces, Lasse Kovanen's Lohkare mouth-blown glass vase exemplifies Pentik's philosophy. Inspired by a rock boulder discovered during canoeing, the vase translates nature's beauty into sculptural, functional art. 'The vase series reflects our design philosophy, Nordic design with passion,' Anette remarks.

Another highlight is the Tuntu – Feel series, a ceramic collection soon to expand into textiles, under the campaign theme The Art of Playful Living. It merges ceramics and textiles into cohesive, experiential ensembles, demonstrating Pentik's commitment to holistic lifestyle design.

Furthermore, visitors will also get to experience some of Anu's exclusive artworks and designs.

Pentik is located in the Decor & Design sector at Hall 6, Booth numbers P98–Q97.

Sustainability and responsibility
Pentik integrates environmentally conscious practices across materials, manufacturing, and distribution. 'Responsibility means caring for the environment and people, and taking accountability for our products and supply chain,' Anna-Kaisa notes. Their sustainability strategy, launched in 2022, focuses on environmental impact, product integrity, and people, ensuring that each collection aligns with ethical principles without compromising on quality or design.

Looking ahead
As Pentik grows, the brand continues to focus on lasting design rather than trend-chasing. 'Consumer expectations are shifting faster than ever,' Luisa explains. 'People want objects that are timeless yet fresh, functional yet artistic. Our approach, strong Nordic design DNA combined with insight-driven creation, ensures that our collections remain distinctive in the global interiors market.'

With a combination of art-driven design, storytelling, and craftsmanship, Pentik remains a compelling example of Nordic lifestyle design. From the Arctic landscapes of Finland to international interiors, Pentik invites customers to experience homes that are both beautiful and meaningful, celebrating nature, creativity, and playful living.
