Obi is moving forward with a major expansion in Germany, planning to open 15 new DIY stores in the first half of 2026 in partnership with five franchise partners. This ambitious initiative will add over 130,000 square meters of retail space, marking the largest growth in Obi's history. The new stores have already been integrated into the existing Obi network, with renovations taking place gradually to ensure that customers can continue shopping without interruptions. The fully refurbished locations are scheduled to officially open on March 9th.

Among the 15 new stores is a completely new building in Mühlacker near Pforzheim. Operated by Bergle & Co. GmbH, this modern market is situated in the new Ziegelhöhe urban quarter and spans more than 9,000 square meters. Dr. Urszula Nartowska, Chief People and Organisational Development Officer at Obi, emphasised the value of franchise partners in supporting local projects and highlighted the strong integration capabilities of Obi's system. This expansion not only increases Obi's retail footprint but also reinforces the company's long-term growth strategy and market presence in Germany.
