KrimsonHaus elevates compact Long Beach bathroom with architectural lighting

In a compact, windowless bathroom in Long Beach, KrimsonHaus has transformed spatial limitations into a sophisticated, spa-like retreat through thoughtful lighting and design. The project demonstrates how careful layering of illumination and restrained material choices can make small spaces feel expansive and expressive.

The design team, led by Christian Rosales and Thomas Keen, approached the L-shaped space with an emphasis on atmosphere. "Our goal was to create a bathroom that felt like a retreat, where bold choices, thoughtful lighting, and architectural details come together to deliver a true sense of escape," said Rosales.

Central to the scheme is the Ramen Wall Sconce, installed in two sizes, 9-inch at the base and 12-inch above, to create a staggered, layered rhythm. Its 360-degree diffused light and minimalist circular profile provide ambient illumination that enhances surrounding stone and architectural surfaces without dominating the space. The fixture's magnetically attached, paintable faceplate offers flexibility, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with walls, artwork, or evolving interior finishes over time.

Task lighting is delivered through the Z-Bar Wall Sconce, installed at the vanity in a matte black finish. Its slim, linear form contrasts with the Ramen's circular geometry, and its rotatable LED bar directs light precisely where needed. Mounted centrally, the Z-Bar serves both functional and sculptural purposes, offering a modern, visually unobtrusive lighting solution that complements the ambient foundation established by the Ramen sconces.

To compensate for the lack of natural light, glass was strategically incorporated to reflect and distribute illumination, while a restrained palette of black, white, grey, and subtle green anchors the space. Textures, shadows, and contrast take centre stage, creating a moody, masculine aesthetic that remains serene and refined.

Founded in 2021, KrimsonHaus specialises in residential and commercial interiors, with a design philosophy rooted in personal, intentional, and timeless spaces. This Long Beach project marked the studio's first collaboration with Koncept, chosen for its minimal, modern, and design-forward lighting solutions.

Through strategic use of Ramen and Z-Bar Wall Sconces, KrimsonHaus demonstrates how architectural lighting can sculpt compact spaces, balancing ambient and task illumination to create a bathroom that is both intimate and visually expansive.
