Homeware High Street sales remain positive for eighth consecutive week

Homeware sales on the UK high street maintained their positive momentum for the eighth straight week, according to the BDO High Street Sales Tracker. For the week ending 28 December 2025, total like-for-like (LFL) sales increased 0.35%, while homewares specifically rose 0.65%, marking the category's eighth consecutive positive week and the fortieth since the start of 2025.

Store-based homeware sales saw a stronger performance, growing 4.70% from a base of 42.98%, the third positive result in the past five weeks and thirty-third so far this year. Overall store LFL sales rose 5.20%, while non-store (online) LFL sales declined 3.58% compared to the same week last year.

BDO noted that the positive in-store sales were driven by strong footfall during the Christmas and Boxing Day period, with lifestyle products performing particularly well due to holiday gift shopping. Weather conditions also played a role, with cold and dry days early in the week supporting store visits, followed by wetter and windier conditions later.

Overall footfall grew 4.6% year-on-year, with retail parks leading growth at 8.2%, followed by high streets at 3.7%, and shopping centres at 2.9%.

The figures highlight ongoing resilience in the high street homeware sector despite seasonal pressures and changing consumer habits.
