Fire destroys Indian furniture factory

A furniture factory in Gujrat (India) was completely gutted by fire early on Sunday morning, causing extensive material damage but no reported casualties. The blaze broke out in the Sada Chak area along Shahdaula Road and quickly spread through the premises due to a large quantity of stored wood.

According to rescue officials, the cause of the fire remains unknown. Thick smoke and flames engulfed the factory, alarming nearby residents, though no workers or civilians were injured.

Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene at around 8am and launched a large-scale firefighting operation involving five fire engines and approximately a dozen personnel. The operation lasted for more than two hours before the fire was brought under control.

Officials stated that the fire had spread through a large hall inside the factory that lacked proper ventilation, significantly complicating the extinguishing efforts. In total, an estimated 32,000 litres of water were used to contain the blaze.

Authorities are expected to assess the extent of the damage and investigate the cause of the incident. The factory sustained severe losses, though the timely response prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding areas.
