For over 150 years, Parker Knoll has stood for British comfort, engineering-led design, and uncompromising quality. Founded in 1869 by Frederick Parker as Parker & Sons, the company grew steadily with demand for handcrafted furniture, expanding across London and building a strong reputation in both public buildings and private homes. Yogesh Rawlley, Head of Sales UK, says, 'From the very beginning, the business was built on craftsmanship and attention to detail. That reputation for quality is something we are incredibly proud of and still protect today.' Even as Parker Knoll scaled up production by moving to larger premises, now located in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, Yogesh notes, 'The focus never shifted away from comfort and build quality. That consistency is what has allowed the brand to endure.'

Engineering-Led Innovation
A landmark moment came in 1929 when Willi Knoll developed the coiled steel wire spring system, revolutionizing seating comfort and cementing Parker Knoll as a technical pioneer. Yogesh explains, 'That spring system was revolutionary at the time. It fundamentally changed how furniture felt to sit in and became a defining part of who we are.' This innovation-led ethos continued through products like the Penshurst chair which is still a best selling chair today. 'We've always believed that comfort should be engineered, not assumed,' he adds. 'Every new development has been about improving the sitting experience in a meaningful way.'

The Importance of the January Furniture Show
The January Furniture Show remains central for Parker Knoll to strengthen industry relationships. Yogesh describes it as 'the largest trade show of the year in the UK and where all our retail partners come to visit.' It's a vital chance to meet existing accounts and attract new stockists while showcasing upcoming products. 'Following our return last year, the value of in-person conversations has become even clearer,' he says. 'We get the chance to sit down with each account and talk openly about how we can maximise sales and grow the business together. Those conversations are incredibly important to us as a team.'

Product Launches with Purpose and Building the Future
This year's presence focuses on clarity and commercial impact. Two new models headline the launch: a compact, fully modular recliner with headrest and lumbar support joining the Lifestyle collection, and a new Classic collection shape with foam and feather fibre wrap seating and feather back interiors. 'Comfort was the starting point,' Yogesh says. 'We've combined that with beautiful new design and some incredible fabrics to really elevate the range.'Fabric innovation is a major highlight, featuring velvets, plains, aquaclean options, and fresh colorways to enhance both new and existing models. Updates to the Portland, Harlow, and Devonshire ranges are also going to be on show this year. 'It's about keeping strong sellers relevant while introducing exciting newness,' Yogesh adds.
Beyond products, Parker Knoll supports retailers with clarity and ease. A newly branded fabric book collection launching at the show will simplify the buying journey by separating classic fabrics. 'We want to make it as easy as possible for retailers and customers,' Yogesh concludes. 'By combining our heritage, innovation, and strong relationships, we're confident Parker Knoll will continue shaping the future of furniture design for many years to come.'
